The Feminist Mutual Aid Collective (FMAC) is a non-charity grassroots collective founded by a diverse small group of queer women settled in Toronto. We deliver mutual aid and harm reduction directly to our community throughout Toronto and the GTA. We support women, queer folx, people who use substances, refugees, and people who are houseless or precariously housed. We go out multiple times a week to service our unhoused community members; supporting them through polar vortexes and summer heatwaves by practicing consistent outreach, encampment support, crisis intervention, and mediation with police to avoid arrest. Our outreach efforts are all inclusive, but with the understanding of intersectionality we focus on supporting and advocating for marginalized femme presenting and queer people on the streets facing the greatest vulnerability, both from a lack of allyship-based communities and government resources that understand the complexities of femme and queer people facing houselessness.
