Last month APFO hosted a Black Liberation and Joint Solidarity fair to celebrate black led and allied liberation organizations in North York and neighboring areas. We’ve been on a high from the community love that artists, poets, and revolutionary thinkers had filled the room with. We’re honoured to have been able to hold a space of inspiration for a better world.

Free Market - August 16
Some pictures from our free market on August 16, our first market at Jane and Finch! We gave thousands of supplies to the local community, all funded through our fundraising and donation gathering efforts. Supplies included backpacks, back to school supplies, hygiene products, kitchen items, helmets, fresh produce and canned foods, shoes, clothes, and various miscellaneous household items.
We are a fully autonomous and grassroots organization. We take no grants or city funding. The fact that we are able to give back to the community fully through the love of our APFO community is truly incredible and keeps our hope alive. Free Market - November 8
On November 8, APFO had a Winter Free Market at PWA. We gave away:
100 sandwiches generously donated by @thelostcheffood
30 brand new Winter jackets and boots
60+ pairs of assorted shoes and fall coats
100+ hats, scarves, and pairs of socks and gloves
100 hand warmers
Accessories like bags, belts, and jewlery
300 sweaters
100+ pants
50 thermal underpants and shirts
Heavy blankets and Winter sleeping bags
Various hygiene items and cosmetics
APFO is completely community funded. We are not registered under any charity organization and receive no grants. All of our efforts are volunteer based.
Our free markets come in between regular outreach efforts serving houseless and precariously housed communities. We’ve given away thousands of dignifying and survival-based items since we began outreach in 2024, but the struggle to keep people warm throughout the winter is just beginning and we are in need of continuous donations.

Fundraiser at PWA
Pictures taken by @mgmphotoco from our Fundraiser at PWA! It was a beautiful warm evening filled with so much love and support from our community. Thank you so so much to everyone who vended, performed, cooked, and came out. Your love travels miles beyond where you give it. 💞💞💞
We raised $2700 at the fundraiser and received an extremely generous $1000 from community members who weren’t able to make it! In total we raised $3700!! These funds will go to mutual aid supplies as well as purchasing an outreach van. Stay tuned for more updates!

Winter Outreach Update
On January 15, we did a callout for $600 to get a 2 night hotel stay for an elderly houseless woman. The $600 included the security deposit as the staff be a $600 fee if the key was lost once they figured out she’s unhoused. The security deposit got returned and went towards a young houseless woman’s motel stay.
We set up a 6 person tent for our elderly friend, but with the snow storm it came close to being fully buried in snow. On Monday morning, a member from our team went to the area and brought her as well as two other houseless BIPOC people, an elderly man who takes care of folks in the area and a younger women who had been robbed the night before, to a hotel that is kinder to their houseless guests. They each have separate rooms and are staying until Thursday morning, for $750 booked through Super.com with their discounted price.
We also generously received many clothes, shoes, blankets, Ensure and other warm items and money for sleeping bags. Folks from our team have gone out during the weekend to hand out supplies for those unable to access warming centres, the last of the supplies from this donation collection were handed out Monday night.
All of this is in addition to regular and broad outreach we have been doing consistently for over a year. Thank you so much to everyone who makes this possible.
