A still-unidentified 46-year-old man was killed after falling from a balcony during an interaction with Toronto Police.
On June 17, officers from 51 Division responded to a call about a person in crisis at a building near Church and Esplanade.
The SIU claims that after breaching the door, “officers attempted to negotiate with the man… the man fell from the balcony to the ground below.”
But video shows something very different.
The first grainy footage clearly shows Toronto Police tasing the man on the balcony multiple times.
Then a second video emerged — clearer, and even more disturbing.
Watch with caution. It is deeply traumatic.
In that footage, the man is already outside, retreating from police. They keep tasing him.
He tries to escape by climbing over the balcony wall to the unit below — but loses his grip and falls.
He dies.
The SIU report hides what really happened: Toronto Police deployed a Taser on a man in crisis who was already backing away.
This is the third person to fall after an interaction with TPS during a so-called wellness check.
We demand answers.
We demand accountability.
Abolition now.
